Welcome to the Knight School of Dance.  The Knight School of Dance is a family run school with over 40 years of dedication and experience, led by Alison for the vast majority of that time, with Amy joining her in more recent years. We welcome dancers of all ages to explore and enjoy a variety of styles, including Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre and Acrobatic Arts. Our school is built on a love of dance and a warm, supportive atmosphere where every dancer can grow in confidence, develop their skills, and feel part of our friendly Knight School of Dance family. About Us

Classes

We take great care to deliver high quality dance tuition whilst encouraging individuals to learn a variety of skills which will not only help with their dance interests, but will equip them with key life-skills. Enjoy learning an awareness of good posture and technique with self-discipline and a love for dance and music. The classes we offer are progressive and as such, regular attendance is important to allow the individual and the class to advance in their skills to the best of their ability.

Journey

We are delighted to have had dancers attend classes throughout their childhood from tots to teens. Some students have successfully auditioned for vocational schools to continued their dance studies to become dancers and teachers and many others have returned to attend our adult classes after completing their higher education. We also provide classes for Older Leaners with the Silver Swans classes.

Fulfilment 

We welcome you to share this treasured and enjoyable experience and we believe the skills learnt at dance classes contribute to creating motivated, hardworking and creative individuals and we are proud to be able to offer a variety of opportunities including dance examinations, shows and performances, fundraising events, theatre trips, workshops, awards ceremonies and more.

Venue

Classes are held at California Ratepayers Hall, 415 Finchampstead Road, Finchampstead, RG40 3RL, which provides a well equipped environment for dance including ballet barres and a Harlequin Sprung Dance Floor.

Meet our Teachers

ALISON KNIGHT PRINCIPAL TEACHER DANCE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION

Hello, I'm Alison Knight, Principal of Knight School of Dance and I'm very pleased to welcome you.

I established Knight School of Dance in 1986 and have celebrated my 40th Anniversary as Principal in 2026. To follow my passion for passing on my love for dance and nurture others to develop their love for dance too, be it for recreation or more seriously, I believe everyone can enjoy the world of dance.

I began dancing at the tender age of 3 and progressed to study at St. Laurent College of Dance Studies for 3yrs full-time dance and dance teacher training, achieving advanced levels in RAD, ISTD and Cecchetti Ballet and ISTD Tap, Modern Theatre and National and qualifying and gaining Registered Teacher Status with  ‘Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)’ and  ‘Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD)’. More recently I have qualified as an Acrobatic Arts Level One teacher.  I love to continue to develop my knowledge and teaching and embrace the opportunity to learn new and skills. 

 

AMY MULLOY TEACHER DANCE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION

We are very lucky to have the wonderful Miss Amy, who began dancing at the Knight School of Dance at the age of 3. She studied RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern Theatre and Tap, achieving advanced level exams with distinction.

Amy pursued her love of dance teaching and achieved the Modern Theatre Diploma in Dance (DDE) with the ISTD. She later completed the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) with the RAD and now holds Registered Teacher Status with both organisations. She is also a qualified Acrobatic Arts Level One teacher.

Amy had the opportunity to live in Austria for three years, where she continued her dance teaching in Salzburg and neighbouring towns in Germany. Before and after her time abroad, she taught for a variety of dance schools across the South East, gaining valuable experience with many different students and teaching environments.

Amy now solely teaches for the Knight School of Dance and supports with dance school administration. She has the pleasure of teaching children aged 3–18 and adults in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Acro, and she loves sharing her enthusiasm and joy for dance with every student she teaches.
